Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma put on the best-ever opening partnership in the second T20 International (T20I) between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday. The duo put on the second-best opening partnership for India ever in T20Is. By the eighth over the duo had scored 77 without getting separated. Both Rohit and Dhawan cut apart the Australian bowling right from the start. Australia had to use seven bowlers in the first nine overs, with Shane Watson and John Hastings opened bowling, and Scott Boland, James Faulkner, Nathan Lyon, Andrew Tye, and Glenn Maxwell coming on to bowl after that. India, who are leading the series 1-0 at the moment after their 37-run win at Adelaide, continued their winning momentum from the fifth ODI at SCG with a victory in the opening T20I at Adelaide. Earlier at the toss, Aaron Finch elected to field first, having made as many as six changes to the side that lost the first T20I at Adelaide. Steven Smith, David Warner, Travis Head, Shaun Tait, Cameron Boyce, and Kane Richardson missed out as Nathan Lyon, Andrew Tye, Scott Boland made their T20I debuts, while Glenn Maxwell, John Hastings, and Shaun Marsh came back to the playing XI. India made no changes to their winning XI.
