Rohit Sharma to not open in Adelaide Test? India skipper drops MASSIVE hint in practice match
Rohit to not open the batting in Adelaide Test?
Indian captain Rohit Sharma is likely to bat down the order in the upcoming Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval following openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul’s impressive batting display in the first Test. The 37-year-old listed himself to bat at the number 5 spot in India’s 2-day pink-ball practice match against the Prime Minsiter’s XI.
It is likely that Rohit will bat on the same position in the Adelaide Oval Test which is scheduled to commence from December 6. Despite being the skipper, Rohit allowed Jaiswal and Rahul to open the batting and demoted himself in the batting order, proving once again that he is one of the most selfless captains India have ever had.
After rain spoiled the first day of the match, the 2-day warm-up match between India and the Prime Minster’s XI was reduced to 50-overs-a-side. Rohit won the toss and elected to have a bowl first.
There was another rain interruption on Day 2, meaning more overs were cut from the match, reducing the contest to 46-overs-a-side. Sam Konstas’ 90-ball century propelled the Prime Minster’s XI to a decent total of 240. For the Men in Blue, pacer Harshit Rana was the star in the bowling department, finishing with brilliant figures of 4/44.
