India skipper Rohit Sharma was not present for the Men in Blue’s net session on Wednesday ahead of their Champions Trophy clash against New Zealand according to a report by The Times of India.
The report claimed that Rohit “jogged gently under the watch of Strength & Conditioning coach Soham Desai” but was not moving freely. This comes after the 37-year-old sustained a hamstring injury during the clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday.
However, in the post-match press conference, Rohit assured fans that there was no need to worry and that he was doing fine.
The report further stated that Rohit did not face any throwdowns and just did some shadow batting while having discussions with head coach Gautam Gambhir and the rest of the coaching staff.
Meanwhile, bowling coach Morne Morkel rejoined the side after attending a personal emergency back home. The former South Africa pacer had to leave the Indian camp a couple of days before the team’s Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh on February 20.
Morkel was seen having a long chat with Gambhir as the players did their warm-up drills at the ICC Academy.
