RCB were off to a a flying start when Chris Gayle smashed 11 runs off the opening over bowled by Trent Boult, including a six over the bowler’s head that was his 200th in the IPL. Gayle scored 21 runs off 16 balls in no time, looking to go for another big score in the match, before he was caught by Ashish Reddy at deep backward square-leg off the bowling of Praveen Kumar in what turned out to be a brilliant change of bowling by skipper David Warner. Darren Sammy was bowled by a full-length delivery by Ashish Reddy, but de Villiers kept going strong on the other end as he continued to go for the big hits with ease. De Villiers continued to pull off some of his trademark shots, especially going for the slog sweep by getting down on one knee. He smashed five fours and two sixes, entertaining the crowd throughout his innings. At a score of 152 for five and a little less than two overs left, one would have expected de Villiers to guide RCB to 180, or even 200. IPL 2015: Points Table and Team Standings

Boult however, decided to spoil the proceedings for the local crowd after enticing de Villiers to smash towards the cover region, where skipper Warner placed Dhawan as the sweeper. That was the beginning of a lower-order collapse, as RCB lost their next four wickets while scoring just 14 runs, failing to bat the 20 overs out. IPL 2015: Schedule with venue details
