Namaste and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the fifth day’s play between India and South Africa, in the final match of the Test series at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi. This is Suvajit Mustafi, bringing you the updates on this blog. It has been a long and gruelling tour, and now we are on the final day of the tour. There’s no such thing as dead rubber in international cricket and despite having lost the series, South Africa are trying hard to fight it out in the final Test. Like the series, this Test too has gone India’s way. Going into the final day, South Africa need another 409 to win while all India need is eight wickets. South Africa showed tremendous resistance on Day Four to save the Test, scoring 72 runs from 72 overs. Earlier in the day, Ajinkya Rahane scored his 2nd hundred of the match and joined the league of Vijay  Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli, as the fifth Indian batsman to score two centuries in a match. India soon declared and it seemed like a win was around the corner. South Africa have managed to drag this Test to the final day.Live Cricket Scorecard: India vs South Africa 2015, 4th Test at Delhi

Can Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers continue the way they have batted, blocking everything in order to save the Test? Or will it be the Indian bowlers who once again and for the last time in the Test series raise their hands up and bowl India to a memorable 3-0 win. Catch all the updates here.

LIVE UPDATES: Masters Champions League (MCL) 2015, Inaugural edition players’ auction

Ajinkya Rahane has been awarded the Man of the Match. Hasn’t it been a special effort. He has scored the only two hundreds in the series so far. He goes on to dedicate his innings to people of Chennai who are affected by the flood and also the Indian Army helping them. Kohli has led well. The Player of the Series goes to Ravichandran Ashwin. This is his fifth Player of the Series award. Amla says he is proud with the way his boys played in attempt to save the Test while Kohli says he was quite surprised. Kohli has gone on to praise all his players. Hasn’t this been a fascinating match. Kohli says he is finally relieved that no one is blaming the pitch. Here’s Pramod Ananth’s report.

With this 3-0 win, India have moved to the second position in Test ranking while South Africa remain at top. That’s a great effort from a young side led by a young captain.

A long tour that started in October 2, comes to an end here in the Indian capital. Hope all of you enjoyed it.

Live Cricket Score: SA 143 all out | Over 143.1| Target 481 | Imran Tahir 0(0): And that’s it! Morkel leaves the ball outside off-stump and that doesn’t spin as it crashes onto the stumps. India have won by 337 runs and take the series 3-0. End of a marathon South African effort. Cleaning up the tail was quite easy. That’s another fifer from Ashwin. He ends with 49.1-26-61-5. Another Player of the Series coming his way? OUT! Morne Morkel b Ashwin 2 (6)

Live Cricket Score: SA 143/9 | Over 143| Target 481 | Morne Morkel 2(5), Imran Tahir 0(0): What a catch from Saha! A short-pitched ball to Piedt that comes in to him, Piedt gets the face of the bat and Saha who readies himself to move left following the ball’s line changes his direction, dives right to take an incredible catch. Maybe that’s why they call him the best wicketkeeper in the country. OUT! Dane Piedt c Wriddhiman Saha b Umesh Yadav 1 (11)

India is winning it 3-0 but is there anything AB de Villiers can’t do!

Live Cricket Score: SA 143/8 | Over 141| Target 481 | Dane Piedt 0(5), Morne Morkel 0(0): Umesh has Abbott’s stumps shattered with an inswinging delivery. It broke the stumps. That swung late and would tested any top-order batsman. OUT! Kyle Abbott b Umesh Yadav 0 (7) Live Cricket Score: SA 136/7 | Over 140| Target 481 | Kyle Abbott 0(1), Dane Piedt 0(5): And Ashwin has dismissed AB de Villiers! The tea-break has done the trick for India. It has been a fabulous resistance from de Villiers. That’s the game for India, I guess. That one spun viscously, took AB’s gloves to Jadeja at leg-slip.OUT! AB de Villiers c Jadeja b Ashwin 43 (297 ) Live Cricket Score: SA 136/6 | Over 139| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 43(296), Kyle Abbott 0(1): Umesh strikes right after Tea. It was an off-cutter that came in sharply and Vilas is played-on here. OUT! Dane Vilas b Umesh Yadav 13 (50) Match resumes after Tea. Jadeja’s 46-33-26-2 is now the most economical figures for any bowler who has bowled over 45 overs. Umesh will start the proceedings post tea.

Live Cricket Score: SA 136/5 | Over 138| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 43(296), Dane Vilas 13(45): It’s TEA on the final day. What a resistance it has been from de Villiers. He has taken some blows but braved on. This has been the third slowest innings in Test history (cut off 200-balls). Another session to go and it will be mammoth achievement if South Africa go on to save it. Here’s Pramod Ananth’s Tea report. Here are the blows to AB from Umesh

Live Cricket Score: SA 131/5 | Over 133| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 43(282), Dane Vilas 8(29): This is getting dangerous. Umesh, bowling his first over after lunch has once again hit AB on the gloves. He is getting medical attention now. It has surely hurt him. How long can AB continue batting.

Live Cricket Score: SA 123/5 | Over 131| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 43(276), Dane Vilas 4(23): While Vilas is looking tentative, de Villiers is looking solid with every ball. It’s all up to him now. Ashwin bowls a half-volley and AB smacks it straight for a boundary. Despite this boundary, the run-rate still is below 1. Jadeja continues from the other end with six men around the bat. Dean Jones has a question here? Well, India might win this but how many teams can actually put up such resistance.

Live Cricket Score: SA 116/5 | Over 125| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 36(259), Dane Vilas 4(4): Ashwin has dismissed Duminy. That kept a bit low and Duminy was on the back foot. It would have clipped the leg-stump. India are back in the game and sniffing a win here. Vilas has made a quick start and has picked two twos. OUT! JP Duminy lbw b Ravichandran Ashwin 0 (12)

Live Cricket Score: SA 111/4 | Over 120| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 35(245), JP Duminy 0(0): And it’s NELSON that ends Faf’s 97-ball resistance. That’s a straight one. Pitches on line and straightens. Easy one for the umpire. OUT! Faf du Plessis lbw b Ravindra Jadeja 10 (97)

Live Cricket Score: SA 109/3 | Over 119| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 34(244), Faf du Plessis 9(92):Meanwhile, Faf gets his first boundary and it’s a straight drive. It has come off Jadeja and ruined his figures to 37-29-14-1. Amidst all these appealing, AB has now played as many balls as Amla.

Live Cricket Score: SA 105/3 | Over 117| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 34(238), Faf du Plessis 5(86): Huge appeal but umpire Oxenford isn’t interested. The ball turns sharply there after falling on a foot-mark. Probably it was spinning a bit too much. Next ball, AB drives for 2. AB de Villiers has played 238-balls so far. Another 7-balls and AB will surpass Amla’s 244-ball mark.

Live Cricket Score: SA 102/3 | Over 114| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 32(227), Faf du Plessis 4(79): After five maidens finally some runs here. AB turns one towards the square-leg for two.  Kohli can attack more, in fact have all his men around the bat. South Africa are not going to win this one. This is now a test for Kohli now.

Live Cricket Score: SA 98/3 | Over 108| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 30(209), Faf du Plessis 2(61): First over after lunch. Ishant starts and AB gets a thick outside edge of the fifth ball and it runs to the third-man boundary for a boundary. AB moves into 30s.

Live Cricket Score: SA 94/3 | Over 107| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 26(203), Faf du Plessis 2(61): It’s LUNCH on Day Five. Another slow session and towards the end we saw the pitch misbehaving a bit. AB dropping his bat isn’t a common sight in cricket and he has done so twice in this Umesh Yadav over. India got the wicket of Amla but would have liked more wickets. Jadeja has bowled wonderfully and now has figures of 35-28-10-1. Here’s Pramod Ananth’s Lunch Report.

Live Cricket Score: SA 93/3 | Over 106| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 26(199), Faf du Plessis 2(60): Here’s another similar partnership building here. There are ones who will criticise this but believe me it’s not easy batting like that. All three — Amla, du Plessis and de Villiers, are aggressive batsmen, and they have fought hard trying to enforce the best result for South Africa, which is a draw. One run from the Umesh over. Jadeja is back in the attack.

First ball of the 107th over, being bowled by Umesh hits AB on his gloves. He drops the bat and it has hurt him. Hopefully, he will be fine. Once again, the varying bounce of the pitch has been on display.

And here’s another highlight, du Plessis gets off the mark. He has taken 53 deliveries!

This has been the highlight of the innings. What a brilliant ball that was! His figures read: 34-27-10-1!

Live Cricket Score: SA 90/3 | Over 100| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 25(182), Faf du Plessis 0(42): Ashwin is mixing leg and off-spin. He is now short of ideas it seems and here’s a full-toss and AB drives it down the ground for a boundary. It’s 100 overs bowled now. The run-rate is 0.90.

Live Cricket Score: SA 82/3 | Over 95 | Target 481 | AB de Villiers 17(164), Faf du Plessis 0(28): Huge appeal from the Indian players. The ball just passes the outside edge but it’s the bat hitting the pad. Jadeja now bowls his 24th maiden. His figure stands 31-24-10-1

Not many are happy with South Africa’s approach here and one of them is legendary Brian Lara. Here’s a series of Tweets from him this morning.

Live Cricket Score: SA 80/3 | Over 89| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 17(144), Faf du Plessis 0(13): Faf almost got a pair there. Outside edge and just falls short of the slip. Last ball of Ashwin’s last over took AB’s outside edge to boundary. Well, a FOUR finally!

It’s drinks break and it has been a good session so far for India. The Amla threat is over!

That was some resistance from Amla and I feel it was an incredible effort. Here’s our article on Amla and his efforts: Hashim Amla: The monk who curbed his instincts

Live Cricket Score: SA 76/3 | Over 85| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 13(131), Faf du Plessis 0(1): Amla has been cleaned up with a beauty. Amla thought he covered everything and his 244-ball marathon ended. Amla wasn’t forward enough and the ball turned and kissed his off-stump. OUT!  Hashim Amla b Ravindra Jadeja 25(244)

Live Cricket Score: SA 76/1 | Over 83| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 13(125), Hashim Amla 25(233): The following over is bowled by Cheteshwar Pujara and now India have taken the new ball. It’s Ravindra Jadeja to bowl the first over with the second new ball. Interesting tactics from Kohli. And he is being partnered by Ravichandran Ashwin. The thought maybe that the spinners can get more bounce with the new ball

Live Cricket Score: SA 74/1 | Over 78| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 12(114), Hashim Amla 24(220): It’s a misty morning in Delhi and South Africa have dropped the anchor here. Last ball of the previous over from Umesh hits Amla on his shoulder. This is the variable bounce that South Africa have to counter and India have to take advantage of. Oh! Now Virat Kohli brings himself on in the attack. Interesting. And guess what, he bowled off-spin!

Some relationship last forever, just like Anil Kumble and Feroz Shah Kotla. The spin legend rolled his arms on Day 4 morning before the start of the match.

Live Cricket Score: SA 74/1 | Over 73| Target 481 | AB de Villiers 12(96), Hashim Amla 24(208): We can say that it’s an attacking start by South Africa. They have scored double the runs of their innings run-rate in this over. Umesh Yadav overs costs India 2 runs and it’s Ishant Sharma from the other end.

Sunil Gavaskar and Shaun Pollock in their pitch report said that the pitch hasn’t really deteriorated much but spinners will have assist from the track.
