Yuvraj Singh was eight when Sachin Tendulkar made his debut against Pakistan in 1989. By the time Tendulkar ended his 24-year old career in 2013 Yuvraj Singh had been playing international cricket for 13 years. Since his debut in 2000 Yuvraj has never missed an opportunity to ask Tendulkar for advice.

In an interview with Indian Express Yuvraj threw light on how Tendulkar has guided him as a player, his comeback into the team after he fought off cancer, on captaincy and the Indian team.

“Sachin has been my mentor and a guide. He has been by my side always. Since I was a kid, I used to follow Sachin Paaji. I looked upto him and still do. I make sure I keep in touch with him,”Yuvraj said.

“A fortnight back, I was in Mumbai at the MCA ground training with him. He is helping me out with my form. He has been telling me to stick to my original game and look for big knocks,” he added.
