It’s the auspicious day of Guru Purnima, the day that is dedicated to them who serve without expecting anything in return—and when it is about honouring the gurus, Indian cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar will be among the first ones to celebrate it. On every Gurupurnima, Tendulkar does not fail to seek the blessings of his coach and it was no different story this time. The former cricketer tweeted a couple of pictures of him visiting Ramakant Achrekar on this very day. The very recent emotional memory of these is when the 1990 Dronacharya Award winner, who was seated in the President’s Box, shed tears when his most famous and favourite ward got out on the latter’s last innings for India. The cricketing star had personally gone to invite his guru for his farewell match, which was against West Indies in 2013. The Mumbai cricketer had to wait for 24 years to get his first compliment from Achrekar.
