Sachin Tendulkar congratulates Team India on a series win over Sri Lanka. Tendulkar said that it was a terrific win after being 1-0 down in the series.India beat Sri Lanka by 117 runs in the third Test and won the series 2-1. This is India’s first won in Sri Lanka after a span of 22 years and skipper Virat Kohli too registered his first win as skipper after taking over from MS Dhoni earlier in 2015. Kohli is also the highest run-scorer in this series for India, just ahead of Rohit Sharma. It was however Angelo Mathews, who finished top of the charts in the series. Ishant Sharma got his 200th wicket in the match. India lost the first Test at Galle, but bounced back extremely well to win the remaining two Tests. The series also saw one of the legends of the game Kumar Sangakkara retire from the game after the second Test at Colombo (PSS). Mathews, who had battled for 240 balls, was struck in front after frustrating the Indians since the last session on Day Four. It was Ishant’s 200th Test wicket in his 65th match. Ravichandran Ashwin then got rid of Rangana Herath and Dhammika Prasad in the same over before the last wicket was taken by Amit Mishra as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 268 and India won by 117 runs. It was India’s first overseas series win since beating West Indies in 2011, and their first Test win in Sri Lanka since 1993. READ: India register first win in Sri Lanka after 22 years
