The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked Team India sponsor Sahara to remove the Television commercial of ‘Q Shop which shows top Indian players like Sachin Tendulkar performing last funeral rites.

BCCI objected the advertisement during a working committee meeting in Chennai on Wednesday.

“We have written a letter to Sahara asking them to withdraw the advertisement with immediate effect. The advertisement is in bad taste and we even received a complaint from a player. The advertisement will be removed,” as quoted by Zee News.

“The players image is everything. The advertisement showcases players in morbid roles. Nobody will like to see such an advertisement where players are digging graves,” the report added.

Sahara ‘Q Shop recently launched an advertisement to promote adulteration-free retail chain. Apart from Tendulkar performing last rites, the commercial also shows Yuvraj Singh digging a grave.

Furthermore, according to rules of agreement, only three players are allowed to be used in an advertisement but the Sahara commercial features eight.
