The world is about to see a legendary cricket-football combo off the field, as the best cricketer of generation, Sachin Tendulkar, will join hands with Portuguese star player, Cristiano Ronaldo. Tendulkar’s co-owned sports based virtual entertainment company Smaaash Enternatainment has approached Ronaldo for its entry into the Middle East with arcade games built around soccer. As reported on DNA, the company will launch 65,000-sq ft gaming arcade with soccer, cricket and other virtual games. This will be launched in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in July and another in Dubai. Founder and chief imagination officer Shripal Morakhia said, “We perfected our electronic ball-throwing machines with cricket and are now extending that to soccer.” Morakhia did not want to mention the commercial value of the contract with Ronaldo but said the association would last for five years and comprise an annual fee. Morakhia’s Smaaash’s signature cricket venture that has built together with Tendulkar, who holds an 18 percent stake in the company, has turned profitable in India with an operating profit margin of 32 percent. This venture was launched in 2013 with cricket pitches fitted with ball-throwing machine that replicates the pitch of world-class bowlers, including spin and allowed gamers to experience real bowling. The company soon will launch the company at London by signing in a club or team. Morakhia mentioned that launching with a specific player representing that country would make customisation easy. In March, Smaaash will start shooting creative’s with Ronaldo to plug into games.
