Sachin Tendulkar, the former India batsman, has asked all Indians to devote one hour each year in order to clean India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier this year launched a cleanliness drive called Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan and had asked numerous celebrities to join in the endeavour. Tendulkar was amongst the first sportsmen to be nominated by Modi.

Speaking to NDTV, Tendulkar said it was imperative that all Indians join hands in this initiative and devote an hour each year. Tendulkar has been actively involved in this initiative and has met the Prime Minister a few times. Tendulkar quit international cricket in 2013, but is amongst the most popular figures in the country.
