Sam Konstas to be replaced by Australian World Cup hero? Selectors to consider Massive changes
Konstas might get replaced by Head for series v SL
Sam Konstas might be in a difficult place to secure his spot in the playing XI against Sri Lanka. Travis Head, who is the vice-captain of the team, might be considered as the opener.
Head successfully navigated the challenges as he opened the batting, and now the chief selector George Bailey gave the hint that the Southpaw could open the batting in Sri Lanka. Australia will face the island nation in a two-match Test series before the WTC final.
“Trav’s an option (to open). We’ve got a number of options and there’s been a few preliminary discussions around where that may land, and that may depend on the makeup of that first XI,” George said as quoted by cricket.com.au.
“I think (head coach) Andrew (McDonald,) and (stand-in captain) Steve (Smith) will settle on that in due course, once we hit Sri Lanka,” he addd.
Australia thrashed India 3-1 in the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar trophy, and qualified for the World Test Championship finals.
