Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, who was recently dropped from the Board of Control of Cricket in India’s (BCCI) commentary panel has on Monday, during a Q&A session, named Shreyas Iyer as India’s No 4 and Hardik Pandya as the allrounder option in the upcoming ICC World T20 in Australia.

“Your Number 4 Indian batsman and allrounder selection for T20WC?,” the Twitter used asked. In response to the question, Manjrekar gave clear replies. ‘Shreyas and Hardik respectively,” he wrote.

Iyer was in good touch in New Zealand during the limited-overs series, in which, Iyer finished as the leading run-scorer in the ODIs despite India losing the series 3-0. He scored amassed 217 runs in 3 innings at an average of 72.33 and a strike rate of 95.59.

He was also good in the T20Is that was played earlier, scoring 153 runs in 5 innings at an average of 51 and a strike rate of 131.90.

Pandya, on another hand, was supposed to make a comeback in the three-match ODI series against South Africa that was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The allrounder too showed glimpses of good form when he featured in the DY Patil tournament slamming two centuries.

Both the players are supposed to play the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) which has been postponed due to the Covid19 pandemic that has affected all sports globally.
