Australia cricketer Sean Abbott has enrolled for the upcoming auction in the Indian Premier League (IPL), stating his base price at Rs 50 lakh.

According to Mumbai Mirror, officials from as many as two top IPL teams have expressed their interest in picking up Abbott. These officials did not want to be named, fearing that this might reveal their team strategies ahead of the auction. They said the Phillip Hughes incident will have no effect on Abbott’s presence in the auction whatsoever.

Hughes had died two days after being struck on the back of the head by a bouncer of Abbott, during a Sheffield Shield match at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) last November.

Abbott, who plays for Sydney Thunders in the Australian Big Bash League (BBL), has also featured in Twenty20 Internationals for Australia and was also a part in their 30-member probables for the ICC Cricket World Cup.
