There was great deal of unease in the Indian camp after in-form opening batsman Virender Sehwag sustained an injury during Friday’s practice session. Sehwag was hit on the left side of his ribs by a local nets bowler at the National Cricket Academy and received medical attention for some time before he left the arena.

Sehwag, who pounded a swashbuckling 175 in India’s opening game win over Bangladesh in Mirpur, is key to India’s batting plans for the second game against England at Bangalore on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Indian team management has dismissed speculation about Sehwag being a doubtful starter for the England game. “He is fit for Sunday’s match,” team manager Ranjib Biswal was quoted as saying.
