A sad day for cricket as a coach from Hyderabad was booked allegedly harassing five teenage boys. The boy used to take training under the coach at the PJR stadium in Hyderabad. The alleged coach’s name is Salam Bin, a 32 year old local from Barkas in the Old City. The coach has been arrested by Chandanagar Police. The coach has an approximate number of 100 boys who are upto 16 years of age. The timings of training camp was extended from 5:30 AM to 8:00 PM everyday. “During breaks, he would take one of the boys and force him to have intercourse. If he resisted, Salam would back off and request him not to reveal it to anyone,” Chandanagar inspector N. Tirupathi Rao was quoted in a report from Deccan Chronicle.

The complaint was lodged by the parents of a 16 year old boy’s family against the coach at Chandanagar Police Station. He allegedly harassed five boys taking them into a secluded coach room to try unnatural sexual practices with them. A case has been registered under Sections 377 (unnatural offences) and 511 of the IPC and relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

This incidents will raise many questions over Hyderabad Cricket Association and the future of cricket in Hyderabad. If found guilty necessary measures need to be taken against the Coach to send a message across the state and the nation to stop these practices with the future of potential Indians Players in India.
