Pakistan have lost their star all-rounder, Shahid Afridi after he smashed 59 off 25 balls, and reignited life into Pakistan’s stumbling chase of 327 to win the Asia Cup 2014 encounter against Bangladesh, and book a final berth. He hit the third second fastest 50 in ODIs (in 18 balls).
Afridi came to the crease when Pakistan were tottering at 225 for the loss of five wickets. In a matter of 18 balls, he changed the course of the match as he smashed his third second fastest fifty in ODI cricket. He now holds the record of having three second fastest 50s in ODIs (in 18 balls), 1 in 19 balls, and 2 in 20 balls, and 1 each in 21 balls and 22 balls.
Afridi’s power-packed innings was laced with seven sixes and two fours.
