The Pakistan Super League (PSL) as been making headlines in the past couple of weeks with news that global stars like Brendon McCullum, Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo said to have signed up. However, one person is not happy. That person happens to be Pakistan’s Twenty20 International (T20I) captain Shahid Afridi himself. According to Afridi, the PSL should have been staged at Pakistan regardless of whether international stars would participate as he believes the Pakistani crowd should be kept in mind before anything else. When asked about his opinion on the PSL, Afridi did not try to hide his feelings. “It would have been great had it been organized in Pakistan because we were talking about revival of cricket in Pakistan after the tour of Zimbabwe,” one of Pakistan’s most popular personalities was quoted as saying by Associated Press. The possibility of non-participation of foreign players if the PSL was staged in Pakistan was not of major concern to Afridi as he sees the brighter side of that. “Our players would have benefited more had it been organized in Pakistan. I am not worried whether foreign players come or not, but at least the crowd will come and our own youngsters get an opportunity,” Afridi concluded.
