Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif feels that Shahid Afridi should play first-class cricket in order to regain his lost form after string of poor performances with the bat in the last 12 months.

Latif opined that Afridi’s lack of batting time in the middle is the reason behind his lacklustre form as there are no issues with his fitness or his strike rate in ODIs.

Afridi has managed just 182 runs in 13 ODI innings he played in 2012, as reported by dawn.com

Latif believes Afridi should follow the footsteps of the likes of Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammad Hafeez and overcome his poor form by scoring heavily in the domestic circuit.

Afridi retired from Tests in July 2010, having played 27 matches for Pakistan. He has scored 1716 runs at an average of 36.51 and has five centuries to his name.
