Shahid Afridi is set to rejoin the Northamptonshire squad for the final day of 2015 NatWest T20 Blast on Saturday. Once again, both the semi-finals and final of the competition, which is being played since May, has been scheduled on the same day, thereby making it tough for the teams, both mentally and physically. Afridi played six matches in the group stage before leaving to join the St Kitts & Nevis in the Caribbean Premier League earlier in the year. He had scored 93 runs at an average of 31 and took seven wickets at an average of 19.86 in his spell of six games. The Northants face Warwickshire in the first semi-final of the day and the winner of that match will lock horns with either Hampshire or Lancashire in the final of the tournament. According to a report from BBC, the 35-year-old was due to meet up with the Northants squad on Friday after his flight was delayed from Pakistan.

It’s a big stage, he’s a big stage player, he’s keen to keep himself in the T20 frame and that’s his career now. He was good when he was with us before; he was just growing and playing some of his best cricket. His statistics from when he was with us are very strong, he scored his runs at about 160 and got wickets. He’s another match winner that we can put in our line-up. He’s in the shop window for the Big Bash and other tournaments around the world so he’ll be motivated, the head coach David Ripley said.
