Shakib Al Hasan joins exclusive list, takes five-wicket hauls against all nations

Shakib Al Hasan, the top-ranked all-rounder across formats, has achieved yet another unique record. During the first Test between Bangladesh and Australia at Mirpur, Shakib bagged a 5-for, thus completing 5-wicket-hauls against all the nine Test-playing nations. He thus becomes only the fourth bowler in the history of the game to achieve it after Muttiah Muralitharan, Dale Steyn and Rangana Herath. Most of Shakib’s 5-fors (3) came against Zimbabwe. Shakib Al Hasan, who is playing the 50th Test match of his career, is Bangladesh’s most successful bowler in the longest format with 181 wickets so far, 81 wickets more than the second best Mohammad Rafique. Shakib’s contribution with the bat proved to be quintessential for Bangladesh as their batting line-up collapsed for 260. 84 runs of which were scored by Shakib. He later bagged the 5-wicket haul to unsettle Australia, most importantly, getting rid of two set batsmen Matt Renshaw and Pat Cummins. The Shakib-led spin attack helped Bangladesh bundle the visitors for 217, getting a 43 run first-innings lead in the match.
