Bangladesh‘s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, along with his wife Umme Ahmed Shishir were lucky to find themselves alive, after a helicopter, that was carrying them, crashed immediately after dropping them at Cox’s Bazar, while it was returning to Dhaka, as it killed a person, and also injuring four people. Shakib said that he was indeed shocked to hear the terrible news. The helicopter dropped both Shakib and his wife at the Royal Tulip Sea Resort, which is 27km south of Cox’s Bazar, around 9.30am, before the accident took place, while Shakib and his wife were scheduled to shoot for a commercial.
The incident happened just an hour later, when the helicopter crashed near Inani beach, with Shakib and his wife just 1.5 kms away from the accident spot. The deceased was eventually identified as Shah Alam, a Dhaka resident, while the injured were rushed to a local health clinic, where they were being medially treated. Wing Commander (retd) Shafiqul Islam, who was the pilot of the helicopter, was also among the injured. “I am fine, but feel rather shocked at the news of the chopper crash. But I can’t really tell you anything about the crash. I was at shooting at the time,” said Shakib, reports espncricinfo.com.
Meanwhile in cricket, Shakib Al Hasan believes Twenty20 cricket is a challenge for players of his kind but it is something he relishes. The left-armer is currently in Jamaica for his Caribbean Premier League (CPL) stint with Jamaica Tallawahs. âItâs challenging [being an all-rounder in T20 cricket], but I love this kind of challenge,â the 29-year-old was quoted as saying by bdnews24.com.
