Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh all-rounder, has been picked by the Big Bash League (BBL) side Melbourne Renegades. Shakib had earlier been a part of the Adelaide Strikers and has experience in playing in the BBL. This comes as an encouraging move for Shakib, who had been in hot water earlier this year when the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had revoked permission for him to play in T20 leagues around the world.

Shakib’s inclusion will certainly bolster Renegades. Coach Simon Helmot was quote by Cricket Australia’s official website, “Shakib is great fit for our squad in January and we’re looking forward to having him on board. We were looking for someone who could contribute across the board for us and being able to call on the top-ranked T20 allrounder in the world is a terrific boost. He brings plenty of experience and cool head under pressure.”

Shakib will only be able to join the Renegades in January 2015 and will be beginning his campaign against the Hobart Hurricanes in their den.
