Shane Dorwich and Marlon Smauel cannot help West Indies earn healthy lead against Australia on Day 3 of 1st Test at Dominica

Two impressive knocks from West Indies batsmen, Shane Dorwich and veteran, Marlon Samuels of 70 and 74, respectively was not enough as West Indies were bowled out for 216 against former Test champions, Australia, on Day 3 of the first of the two-match Test series at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica on Friday. West Indies, who were bowled out for just 148 in the first innings, started their second innings on a shaky note on Day 2, as they were trailing by 170 runs. They lost their opener on Day 2 itself in the form of Shai Hope and Kraigg Brathwaite for two and 15, respectively off Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Starc.

As the finished Day 2 on 25 for the loss of 2, they started Day 3 on a shaky note as well as at the score of 37, it was Darren Bravo, who made his way back for mere five, after falling victim to Josh Hazlewood. But the pair of Dorwich and Samuels was good enough as it put up a whopping 144-run stand for the fourth wicket, before Dorwich fell for 70 to Hazlewood at the score of 181. With 17 added to the total, it was Jermaine Blackwood, who made his way back for mere 12 after being stumped by Brad Haddin off Nathan Lyon. The very next over saw the dismissal of Samuels for 74 to Johnson, who got out in a similar fashion as in the first innings. Following his departure, none of the other batsmen were able to contribute much, as West Indies were bowled out for 216, earning a slender lead of 46 runs, leaving a target of just 47 to be chased down by the Aussies.
