Shane Warne on Saturday explained once again why he criticised Australian selectors for choosing Peter Siddle over Pat Cummins for the fifth and final Test in the Ashes 2015 against England. Australia ignored the 22-year-old Cummins in favour of the 30-year-old Siddle, who claimed two wickets in England’s first innings and helped Australia take a massive lead of 332 runs over the hosts. Cummins was all set to make comeback to Test cricket, but Siddle was chosen ahead of the young tearaway pacer. The point that Warne is making is understandable — Cummins is young and inexperienced, and he would have certainly benefitted by playing in the inconsequential Test in England. Siddle, in comparison to Cummins, is a more experienced bowler and does not need chances like these.
