Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne has rubbished reports in the media about his split with Elizabeth Hurley, but also admitted that they are going through a rough patch.

“Some of the reports re EH & me r absolute rubbish. Yes we’re sorting through some (private) issues. But we’re not throwing the towel in yet,” Warne wrote on his Twitter page. (sic)

Warne’s fiancé, Hurley also took to Twitter to break silence over the matter and apologised for not keeping her ‘loyal’ followers informed.

“Apologies to loyal followers for Twitter silence on recent events. Too raw & personal to share right now,” Hurley wrote.

According to news.com.au, Hurley was seen stepping out of her London home without her engagement ring.

The report credited UK newspaper The Sun for the revelation that Warne’s ex wife Simone Callahan is behind the split.

Friends reportedly told the newspaper that Hurley grew tired of Warne “getting cosy with her again”.

“Liz found out he had been over at Simone’s house a lot,” the source said.

“It is felt now the kids are getting older, they need their dad around. Liz couldn’t ever handle Shane and Simone still being best friends.”

Warne had proposed to Hurley in September 2011, presenting her a dazzling blue sapphire ring.
