Australian all-rounder Shane Watson is facing race against time to be fit for the second Test against the South Africans, which starts on Thursday in Port Elizabeth.

Watson ran and batted in the nets on Saturday, as he recovers from a calf injury sustained two weeks ago.

News.com.au quoted coach Darren Lehmann, as saying that the selectors will not make a call on Watson until they arrive in Port Elizabeth and assess both the pitch and his calf.

The 32-year-old has been working hard with team doctor Peter Brukner and physio Alex Kountouris to regain full fitness. He is using his time off the field to talk with Moises Henriques on cricket.
