Shardul Thakur and Tanush Kotian star as Mumbai crush Meghalaya by an innings and 456 runs
Mumbai decimate Meghalaya by an innings and 456 runs in Ranji Trophy
Shardul Thakur and Tanush Kotian picked up 4 wickets each as Mumbai cruised to a crushing victory by an innings and 456 runs against Meghalaya to top the Elite Group A.
Just like in Mumbai’s previous encounter against Jammu and Kashmir in the domestic tournament, Shardul was once again the star performer for the defending champions. The all-rounder contributed well with both the bat and the ball in the clash against Meghalaya.
Shardul picked up a hat-trick in Meghalaya’s first innings and finished with a 4-wicket haul as the side got bundled out for just 86 runs. He then went on to play a fantastic knock of 84 runs from just 42 deliveries to held Mumbai reach the humongous total of 671/7 before declaring.
Meghalaya batters struggled in the second innings as well and could only manage to put up 129 runs on the board before getting bundled out. Shardul (4/48) and Kotian (4/15) bowled brilliantly for the defending champions and gave Meghalaya no chance to come back into the game.
Mumbai now have 29 points on the table, similar to Jammu & Kashmir but the defending champions are ahead by Net Run Rate. The former have a NRR of 1.74 as against the latter’s 1.59.
