Indian opening batsman, Shikhar Dhawan scored his third half-vcentury in Test cricket, against Sri Lanka in the first of the three-match Tests series at the Galle International Stadium in Galle on Wednesday. His fifty came off 92 deliveries, including six boundaries along with a strike-rate 54.35. Currently, India are 124 for the loss of two wickets in 31 overs with opener Shikhar Dhawan on 50 and skipper, Virat Kohli on 44. Earlier, Sri Lanka had won the toss and elecyted to bat first as both the team went in with a bowling secialised team as India started off well and the strategy eventually paid off, as they claimed wickets at regular intervals. Earlier, Ravichandran Ashwin continued his charge after lunch, taking five wickets to help India restrict Sri Lanka to a moderate total after Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal staged a remarkable fightback in the post-lunch session of Day One of the first Test at Galle. Chandimal was lucky to make it past the first over after lunch, as an outside edge off Ishant Sharma was put down by Wriddhiman Saha. Ashwin then came back into play though, getting rid of first Angelo Mathews for 64 and Dhammika Prasad for a duck. Amit Mishra made his mark as well, taking wickets off consecutive balls to dismiss Chandimal and Tharindu Kaushal to leave Sri Lanka nine down for 179.
