Mumbai: The Shiv Sena workers on Monday stormed into the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) office to protest against the meeting with the Pakistan Cricket board to discuss the India-Pakistan bilateral series slated for December. This incident undoubtedly has triggered anger among the Indian cricket fans as they have taken on the social media to express their disgrace regarding this move by the political party. The Shiv Sainiks charged into the office chanting ‘vande matram’ and slogans against PCB chief Shahryar Khan. They cornered BCCI president Shashank Manohar and protested saying they will not allow any cricket ties with Pakistan. This episode has brought back memories of 1991 when then Hindu leader Bal Thackeray’s Shiv Sena party vandalised the pitch at Bombay’s Wankhede stadium two days before Pakistan were to play a one-day series in India. Again, in 1999 the Shiv Sena party stormed New Delhi’s Ferozeshah Kotla stadium and had dug up the pitch prior to the first Test against Pakistan.
