Siddarth Kaul’s five-wicket haul pegged Punjab back in the ongoing Ranji Trophy match against Vidarbha at Nagupr on Monday.

“It is a boost up for me. A five-wicket haul just at the start of the big tournament is a very good sign. It keeps pushing you to do better in the future and instils positivity in you. I always want to come up with good performances. My state of mind is really good at this moment,” Kaul said in an interview with CricketCountry.

Punjab were earlier bowled out at 195 in the first innings after Rakesh Dhurv picked four wickets for Vidarbha. But Kaul’s impressive five for 44 restricted Vidarbha to 149 for six at the end of Day Two. He still has the opportunity to better his best bowling performance of six for 63 in First-Class cricket when play resumes on Day Three.

Kaul started with the wicket of Sanjay Ramaswamy and then scratched through the entire Vidarbha middle-order in no time.

When asked about his preparations for this Ranji season Kaul said, “The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) organises special training camps before every Ranji season and fast bowlers are looked after really well. Then we have a lot of district matches so no anything special is required.”
Kaul however wishes to take one performance at a time and put up decent performance for Punjab this season.

“I’m just taking every match as it comes and not thinking too much about the future at this moment. I just want to upgrade my performance with every match and rest is upto God,” he concluded.
