A bunch of minor children were detained for playing cricket in the Police Training School (PTS) ground on Friday in Uttar Pradesh. An Inspector General (IG) of Moradabad, a city in Uttar Pradesh, was hit by a ball while the children played in the ground. IG B.R. Meena, who got agitated after the incident, called the police after the nearby civil-lines police station and ordered his sub-ordinates to arrest all kids and prosecute them. “Kids were brought for counselling to Civil Lines police station on the orders of IG B.R. Meena. But as the kids were minors they could not be charged with any crime,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural Sujata Singh.

According to www.siasat.com, the parents of the detained children rushed to the police station. Since the officers were ordered not to free the children by the IG, the parents were forced to make a ruckus demanding them to free their children. The entire process saw the parents stuck in the police station for five hours at least.

According to a report from NDTV.com, it was Inspector Civil Lines Brham Pal Singh who handled the entire case and dealt with the parents of the children.

Although a written complaint had been sent by the IG demanding that the children be arrested but no action was taken against the detained children because all of them were minors. The children were realised after a session with the policeman to keep away from the ground and on the intervention of their parents.
