Smriti Mandhana is Wisden’s Leading Women’s Cricketer of the Year

Smriti Mandhana Wisden Leading Women's Cricketer of the Year

India opener Smriti Mandhana has been named Leading Women’s Cricketer in the annual Wisden Cricket’s Almanack, set to be released tomorrow.

This is the first Wisden honour for Mandhana, who in 2018 amassed 1291 runs across ODIs and T20Is.

The 22-year-old is currently the top-ranked ODI player in the ICC women’s ratings and third in T20Is. In 2018, Mandhana scored 669 runs at an average of 66.90 in 12 ODIs and 622 runs at a strike-rate of 130.67 in 25 T20Is.  (READ: Virat Kohli named Wisden Cricketer of the Year for third time in a row)

Also in 2018, Mandhana ended the Kia Super League as the highest run-getter with 421 from 10 matches.

The ICC named her Women’s Cricketer of the Year for 2018.
