After 10 overs South Africa Women were 45 for 3. Kappa and Dinesha Devnarain were at the crease. Kapp was batting on 13 and Devnarain being new to the crease was yet to open her account. Suzie Bates and Erin Bermingham came to bowl then. Bates got rid of Kapp as she trapped her for 22 runs. She then also sent Devnarain back to the dugout for nine runs. After 16 overs, South Africa Women were 74 and they had lost half their side. New Zealand had tried six bowlers till then and the prospect for them going past even 110 looked bleak. New Zealand were very disciplined in their bowling and at the same time did bowl some lethal deliveries which created difficulties for South Africa’s batters. They swung and spun the ball to good effect.
