Sophie Devine played and excellent innings of 89 off 93 balls as New Zealand women reached a very competitive score of 220 in the fourth One-Day International (ODI) at Bangalore. For India Women this is a do or die game as New Zealand women are currently leading the five-match series 2-1.  So to keep the series alive Indian batters have to chase down a stiff target of 225, which is looking very tough on this greenish track. New Zealand skipper Suzie Bates won an important toss and decided to bat first in the important clash. They fielded and unchanged side, whereas India made change, Poonam Yadav came in for Ekta Bisht.

The start was not good for them as opener Rachel Priest fell in the third over of the innings. Skipper Suzie Bates put up 62-run partnership with Amy Satterthwaite for the second wicket. Later they lost both Bates and Satterthwaite in quick successions. From there Sophie Devine took over.

She stood the at one end and wickets kept tumbling. She reached her fifth ODI half-century in the course of the innings and hit some lusty blows afterwards. She hit 3 sixes and 10 fours during her innings. It was mainly because of her efforts, New Zealand women crossed the 200-run mark. For India, Rajeshwari Gayakwad was the most effective and successful bowler, she took 3 for 25. Niranjana Nagarajan also got three wickets for 35 runs.

India Women failed in the batting department for the third time in the series. So this target will post a huge challenge for them.
