Sourav Ganguly to stay with Sahara Pune Warriors in IPL 5

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has been signed by Sahara Pune Warriors for the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League Twenty20 tournament.

Ganguly, who played as a replacement for injured Ashish Nehra in IPL 4, is expected to have a bigger role in this edition.

It is understood that Ganguly was signed for $400,000, DNA reported.

The former Indian cricketer played for Bengal in this Ranji season to remain match-fit for the cash-rich T20 tournament.

The fifth edition of the Indian Premier League Twenty20 tournament will be held from April 4 to May 27, 2012 and will have total of 76 matches to be played between nine teams.

The tournament begins with the defending champions Chennai Super Kings taking on the winners of Champions League T20, Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

A new stadium in Pune, which is subject to final completion, is set to make its debut as an IPL venue. It will host all eight ‘home games of the Pune Warriors India.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced on its portal that Dharamsala, Cuttack and Vizag will host two games each.
