South Africa have reclaimed the No 1 ranking in One-Day cricket after beating New Zealand in the recently-contested series, according to the ICC ODI rankings. The Proteas went into the series against New Zealand trailing Australia by a point only.

South Africa won the series against the Kiwis comprehensively. It was after their crushing 72 run victory in the second One-Day international at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on 24 October.

The third One-Day international could not be completed due to rain but wins in the earlier two games were enough to ensure that the number one spot would be South Africa’s.This is the first time since 2009 that the number one position has been South Africa’s.
