South Africa notch up eight-wicket win over Zimbabwe

Mumbai, February 12, 2011

South Africa pulled off a facile eight-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in a World Cup warm-up game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday.

Jacques Kallis, Hashim Amla and Graeme Smith enjoyed good batting practice as they chased down Zimbabwe’ score of 152 with plenty to spare.

Meanwhile, South Africa received an injury scare as pace bowler Lonwabo Tsotsobe strained his right knee during the team’s eight-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in Sunday’s warm-up match of the cricket World Cup.

Tsotsobe sent down a couple of overs without success before falling awkwardly while trying to stop a boundary and was writhing in pain barely a week before the tournament gets underway.

Surrounded by worried team mates, the pacer received medical attention before eventually hobbling off the ground.

Brief Scores: Zimbabwe 152 in 41.5 overs (Brendan Taylor 40, Regis Chakabva 35, Morne Morkel 3 for 16, Imran Tahir 3 for 35) lost to South Africa 153 for 2 in 23.3 overs (Jacques Kallis 49*, Hashim Amla 45, Graeme Smith 41) by 8 wickets.
