Dale Steyn who was making his comeback in Test cricket was seen struggling during the match as he left the field hopping. It was just before tea when Steyn pulled out from his run up and left the field. He was later not seen in the dressing room as well.
It has been confirmed that Steyn has sustained a tissue injury on his left heel which is likely to keep him out of action for 4-6 weeks. This means Steyn won’t be taking part in the rest of the match as well.
Steyn’s reaction on field didn’t suggest it to be any serious problem as it seemed like there was some problem with his shoes which was not the case. After he left the field he was then taken to a nearby hospital to examine the problem.
Steyn was making a comeback after November 2016 and his fifth match since November 2015. He had played one first class match before returning to the international side. Coach Ottis Gibson was not very confident if Steyn should play international cricket this soon as it might prove to be a risk.
South Africa will definitely miss him during India’s second innings. Steyn in the first innings picked up two crucial wickets that of Shikhar Dhawan and Wriddhiman Saha.
