South Africa‘s team performance analyst Prasanna Raman was publicly shamed by opening batsman Dean Elgar, after the latter raced to a scintillating century on Day One of the first Test at Galle against hosts Sri Lanka. It is understood that Raman placed a bet with Elgar and to everyone’s surprise, the stocky man that forms the backroom staff of the Proteas and shaved off his handlebar moustache with TV cameras prying on him.

Raman, who also works with Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL), is a hugely popular figure with many of his team-mates. Elgar punched the air and yelled out a cry of relief when he got to his three figure score. After the Tea break, much to everyone’s bemusement, Lara whipped out his razor and shaved off his facial hair, which bore a stark resemblance to Mitchell Johnson’s famous ‘Mo’. Raman acknowledged Elgar’s knock by stating that he was scared that the southpaw might demand him shaving his head after the next hundred.
