Bangladesh received bad news ahead of the One-Day International (ODI) series against South Africa. Mustafizur Rahman has now been ruled out of the first ODI at De Beers Diamond Oval, Kimberley. His participation in the ODI series also remains doubtful after the left-armer picked up an ankle injury during training.

According to a report The Daily Star, Rahman twisted his ankle during warm-ups. He is yet to go for a scan to determine the scale of his injury. “Mustafizur twisted his ankle during warm-up before training. He won’t play tomorrow,” said BCB selector and team manager Minhajul Abedin.

He further adds, “We can’t tell yet if he will be available for the rest of the series. We’ll know more after we go to Cape Town [for the second ODI in Paarl], we haven’t done a scan yet.”

Apart from Rahman, Bangladesh will also miss Tamim Iqbal in the ODI series. Tamim injured his thigh prior to the second Test. The three-ODI series will be followed by a two match Twenty20 International (T20I) series as well.

The T20Is will be played at Bloemfontein and Potchefstroom on October 26 and 29 respectively.
