Andre Russell hit Vernon Philander for two huge sixes, but got carried away and went for another shot only to get the edge which was easily pouched by de Villiers. West Indies now need 81 in 49 balls with just 3 wickets in hand after being given a revised target of 224 in 33 overs due to rain interruptions.

South Africa’s innings ended at 279 for eight off 48.2 overs after the rain stopped play. South Africa at one point were sailing towards a mammoth total, but were soon reduced from 238 for three to 272 for eight. The fightback was led by Andre Russell who was responsible for three wickets in that period; one run-out and two wickets. Earlier in the innings South Africa won the toss and elected to bat. They were in deep trouble with opener Rilee Rossouw and Faf du Plessis both falling on ducks leaving South Africa in a spot of bother at 16 for two. Jerome Taylor took two wickets .Newly crowned skipper, Jason Holder also bowled well early on but has nothing to show for his effort.
