The South African bowlers have begun their defence of 262 in emphatic fashion. Morne Morkel troubled the batsmen with bounce, pace and movement and winkled Dwayne Smith for a duck in the third ball of the innings. Kyle Abbott was also phenomenal in maintaining the pressure. JP Duminy reaped the reward of this pressure build-up, getting Chris Gayle’s wicket who tried to go after him after scoring just 10 of 18 balls.

In the first innings South Africa recovered to score 262 for eight from 76 for four. David Miller starred with the bat scoring 130 of 133 deliveries. The West Indian bowlers put on a good show otherwise. Skipper, Jason Holder bagged a four wicket haul, two wickets of which came in the final over. Apart from Miller, only JP Duminy put up a fight with bat, scoring 43 and forging a crucial 90-run partnership with him.
