Sri Lanka delcared their first innings at 533 for nine after Kumar Sangakkara smashed 221 against Pakistan in the first Test match at Galle. Sri Lanka have taken a lead of 82 runs in the first essay. Saeed Ajmal was Pakistan’s most successful bowler with five wickets in his kitty.

Earlier, Saeed Ajmal claimed his third wicket post tea as Dilruwan Perera was caught by Junaid Khan for five. This was after Kumar Sangakkara completed his double-century as Sri Lanka extended their lead to 25 runs. Sangakkara faced 398 balls and hit 21 boundaries to reach 200 not out. This is Sangakkara’s 10th double hundred.

Sangakkara added 181 runs with Angelo Mathews to put Sri Lanka in a position from which they could dominate. Mathews was unlucky as he was dismissed for 91, apparently for the third time at the same score.

Sri Lanka lost two wickets in quick succession as Pakistan gained command in their first Test at Galle after tea. Kithuruwan Vithanage and Niroshan Dickwella were dismissedby Saeed Ajmal, who made a strong comeback in the match after being belted by the Sri Lankan batsmen. While Vithanage faced 22 balls to score five runs, Dickwella scored five off seven balls. Both the batsmen were caught by Asad Shafiq.
