Sri Lanka will go into the One Day International series confident after showing sheer dominance in the Test series against South Africa. They won both the Tests comfortably beating the visitors by 278 and 199 runs respectively. The Sri Lanka Cricket board announced their squad for the five-match ODI series on July 24. Dinesh Chandimal‘s ban has given opportunity for Angelo Mathews  to captain the side.

Dhananjaya De Silva, Kusal Mendis, Niroshan Dickwella, Suranga Lakmal and Akila Dananjaya are players from the Test squad who are included in the limited over squad. Sri Lanka have also added their regular ODI players like Thisara Perera, Kusal Perera and Upul Tharanga. Dasun Shanaka and Shehan Jayasuriya have made their comeback to the ODI side. They both last played 50-over format for Sri Lanka in November 2016.

Prabath Jayasuriya is the uncapped player who has been included in the squad. Dimuth Karunaratne, who rose to fame in the Test series has been kept as a standby along with Isuru Udana and Nishan Peiris . Jeffrey Vandersay who recently banned from international cricket for a year for admitting a misconduct charge has also been included in the standby list.
