Despite the success of the World XI tour of Pakistan, Sri Lanka s top contracted players have refused to visit Lahore for their proposed T20I. Sri Lanka were to play Pakistan in Lahore for the third and final Twenty20 International of the three-match series on October 29. It has been learnt that around 40 centrally contracted Sri Lankan players, in a letter, have indicated the same to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

The letter, though, does not mention a direct refusal but suggests the board for the change in venue. According to Cricbuzz, a source in SLC said, “SLC will have a quick chat to the players very soon. We don’t intend to disturb them in middle of a series, but we are left with no option but to address the issue. The ICC also will meet the players on Saturday to brief them about the situation in Lahore.”

There is a bleak chance of SLC sending in a second-string side to Lahore to play the third T20I. “We are looking at all possibilities. Pakistan has been one our closest allies and we don’t want to let them down,” the source concluded.

It was in 2009 that n terror attack on the touring Sri Lanka side saw international tours to Pakistan coming to standstill.
