Sri Lanka continued to dominate Australia on Day 3 as visitors head for Lunch at 133 for 7 requiring 280 to win against hosts in 2nd Test at Galle. Sri Lanka bowler Dilruwan Perera was unsung hero for hosts in the 1st session with his fifer bringing down the pillars of Australia in no time. Joining him along was chinaman bowler Lakshan Sandakan and Rangana Herath with wicket apiece. Yet again Sri Lanka managed to tilt the game towards their side and are very well looking to finish the game by the second session. Meanwhile, Australia batsmen were caught in the web of DRS and were gone in quick succession. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2016, 2nd Test at Galle

David Warner and Steven Smith, who started Day 3 playing at 22 and 1, ended up adding steady partnership of 51 runs for 4th wicket but fell for Perera as Warner was gone for 41 while Smith was dismissed for 30. Mitchell Marsh and Adam Voges tried to build the momentum for Australia putting up strong partnership of 39 runs for 6th wicket until they were scalped by Perera and Sandakan in the process. At the moment, Mitchell Starc and Peter Neville are trying to turn the tables around for Australia and are playing at 4 and 7 respectively.

In hindsight, Sri Lanka’s enthusiasm is paying off with their bowlers picking wickets at regular intervals and not dropping a single moment to race their side to victory in this series. Herath, who starred on Day 2 with his hat-trick has managed to grab just a single wicket and Day 3 belonged to Perera, who has got five wickets under his belt in form of Warner, Smith, Voges, Nathan Lyon and Usman Khawaja, who could have been the savior for the visitors. Sandakan also added some twists with his unusual bowling skill and picked Marsh to near their victory. DRS played crucial role for Sri Lanka as they reviewed not once but four times that paved the way for them and kept them on toes in this session. On Day 2, Sri Lanka dominated the day with Herath’s hat-trick. Sri Lanka took three late wickets as they tightened the screws on Australia. At the end of an action-packed second day, which saw 21 wickets tumble and a hat-trick from Sri Lanka’s Herath, Australia were 25 for three in their second innings — still 388 runs short of their target. Although Starc took six wickets as Australia restricted Sri Lanka to 237 in their second innings, the tourists were effectively undone in the first session of the day when they were skittled out for 106. It was their lowest total in 28 Tests against Sri Lanka who are on a high after winning last week’s first Test in Pallekele. Victory in Galle would ensure the Sri Lankans win the three-match series with a game to play.
