The fifth One-Day International (ODI) between Sri Lanka and England at Pallekele has been abandoned due to rain. Earlier, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 239, giving the visitors a target of 240 in 50 overs. England will try and chase down the target tomorrow. Kumar Sangakkara top scored for the home side with 91 of 123 balls. Thisara Perera‘s late onslaught (27 of 17) helped Sri Lanka reach a competitive total.

Chris Woakes’ career best figures of 6 for 47 helped England restrict Sri Lanka for 239, after England won the toss and elected to field. Sri Lanka lead the series 3-1 with two games left. England will have to win this match to stay alive in the series.
