Sri Lanka were off to a steady start in the second Test against Pakistan at Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC), Colombo on Friday. The Lankans had won the toss and elected to bat on a flat deck.

Kausal Silva and Upul Tharanga opened the batting for Lanka. Tharanga looked tentative while Silva was solid in defence. The fast bowlers had nothing to extract from the wicket. Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq was forced to bring in Abdur ehman early in the innings.

The spectators have turned up in big numbers to see their legend Mahela Jayawardene playing the final Test of his career. This is Jayawardene’s 149th Test. He needs 94 runs more here to end career with an average of 50.
