This is the second One-Day International (ODI) of the ongoing series between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe and the two teams will lock horns at the Galle International Stadium. Zimbabwe pulled off an upset in the first ODI, defeating the hosts by 6 wickets. This victory makes the second ODI a must-win for Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka made many changes in the team that they played for Champions Trophy squad and put up a novice bowling attack for Zimbabwe to face, which eventually resulted in the defeat. The batsmen did their part, putting up a challenging 316 for 5 in their 50 overs in the first ODI. Danushka Gunathilaka (60),Kusal Mendis (86) and Upul Tharanga (79) were the major contributors with runs while skipper Angelo Mathews played a handy 43 off 30. Tendai Chatara was the most successful bowler for Zimbabwe with a couple of wickets.

While the target looked humongous for a visiting Zimbabwe team, Solomon Mire made sure he gave his best to see his side through. His 112 off 96 paved way for a comfortable victory for Zimbabwe while Sean Williams (65) was at his usual best. It was the partnership of Sikandar Raza (67*)ad Malcolm Waller (40*) that took the side home with 14 balls remaining.

The ploy of bowling two young guns failed for Sri Lanka as both Amila Aponso and Lahiru Madushanka were hammered by the Zimbabwe batsmen. Asela Gunaratne was the most successful with the ball for his side, with a couple of wickets.
